There’s a certain magic to Morocco in winter—a soft, golden light that stretches low across desert sands, snow-dusted mountain peaks rising into crisp blue skies, and the quiet stillness of the Sahara beneath a sky full of stars. If you’re a photographer searching for your next visual story, our upcoming adventure travel photography in Morocco 2026 offers the perfect canvas.

Photography In Morocco 2026 – Photography Tour With Local Guides Morocco

After the success of our last tour—timed with the new moon and framed by rare snowfalls in the Atlas Mountains—we’re heading back with a refined itinerary and renewed inspiration. Over ten unforgettable days, you’ll travel in a small group by 4×4, guided deep into Morocco’s most photogenic regions: from the surreal rock formations of the Anti-Atlas to the towering dunes of Erg Chigaga.

Whether you’re looking to build a professional portfolio or simply lose yourself in the art of capturing light and shadow, this immersive winter photography experience is designed to deliver both comfort and creative challenge. Expect striking landscapes, authentic local encounters, and peaceful nights under the stars—all curated with photographers in mind.

Visual Inspiration from Morocco’s Finest

A picture is worth far more than a thousand words when it comes to Morocco. To give you a taste of what’s possible on this tour, we’ll be sharing select images captured on past landscape photography expeditions by two of our participants—Jared Gerlach and Happy Tsui.

Their work offers a masterclass in chasing light across shifting sands, framing the vast stillness of the Sahara, and capturing those fleeting, golden-hour moments in the Anti-Atlas mountains. From surreal, wide-angle dune compositions to intimate portraits of desert textures, their images perfectly reflect the mood and palette of Morocco in winter.

As a participant on this tour, you’ll have the time, space, and guidance to create images just as powerful—whether you’re a seasoned pro or refining your landscape photography on the go. Our itinerary is deliberately paced to allow for longer stays in remote locations, giving you the best chance of catching those once-in-a-lifetime shots.

Recap of Our February 2025 Tour – New Moon, Snow and Star Trails

Our most recent photography tour in February 2025 delivered conditions that photographers dream of but rarely get to experience all in one journey. Timed perfectly with the new moon, we had crystal-clear desert skies for photographing the Milky Way from the dunes of Erg Chigaga—without a trace of light pollution.

Mornings began crisp and quiet, the low winter sun casting long shadows across the sand and illuminating the landscape with a painter’s touch. Days brought vivid contrasts: golden dunes under deep blue skies, and in the distance, the Anti-Atlas Mountain relief—a striking backdrop that added a dramatic edge to every frame.

Despite the cold nights, spirits were high and the creative energy was contagious. One guest, Pete L from Germany, described his experience as “an incredible journey unlike anything we had done before (and we do a lot of travelling and hiking).” He praised our guides for being “upbeat, friendly, informative and helpful,” even during a surprise desert sandstorm that added a wild twist to the adventure.

What’s New for January 2026? An Even More Immersive Journey

Winter Photography In Morocco – 10-day Photo Tour

For our January 2026 tour, we’ve fine-tuned the itinerary to offer even more comfort, variety and creative opportunities—perfectly suited to the slower pace and cooler conditions of winter travel in Morocco.

We’ll now spend two nights in the dramatic Anti-Atlas Mountains near Tafraoute, a region of sculptural granite outcrops and almond groves framed by rust-red peaks. The landscape here is both stark and striking—ideal for early morning and golden hour photography sessions. The slower pace gives you time to absorb the rhythm of rural Morocco and capture its raw beauty without rushing.

We’ve also extended your stay at our beloved fixed desert camp, Camp Al Koutban, from two to three nights. Skipping the previous wilderness camp in favour of more comfort, this change means better rest and more time to explore the dunes with camera in hand. The camp’s location—set against sculpted sandscapes and far from artificial light—makes it the perfect base for long-exposure night photography and sweeping desert compositions.

By rebalancing travel and rest days, and focusing on fewer but richer locations, this 10-day winter photography journey is designed to give you more space, more light, and more time to create.
