Day 1
Depart Marrakech at 09:30 and travel by private Toyota Land Cruiser across the High Atlas Mountains via Morocco’s highest main road pass at 2,260 metres. Continue through traditional villages, visit the Telouet area and follow the scenic Ounila Valley towards Ait Ben Haddou. Explore this famous ksar region before overnighting in a restored kasbah-style guest-house near Ait Ben Haddou.
Day 2
Travel south through the Anti-Atlas foothills via Tazenakht and Foum Zguid. Leaving the tarmac behind, begin an exciting off-road journey through Iriqui National Park, passing the dried salt flats of Lake Iriqui and the Madouar mountains. Arrive at Erg Chigaga during the afternoon for tea, a camel trek, sunset from the highest dune and an evening around the campfire. Overnight at desert camp.
Day 3
After breakfast, either drive from Erg Chigaga to Agdz via Mhamid El Ghizlane, Tamegroute and Zagora, following the course of the Draa Valley and its extensive palm groves. Overnight in a charming guest-house near Agdz. Alternatively, remain at Erg Chigaga for a second desert night, with leisure time and optional Sahara activities arranged locally. Overnight at desert camp.
Day 4
If staying in Agdz, travel north through the Anti-Atlas, enjoying views towards the High Atlas and the NOOR solar plant before continuing through Ouarzazate and across the mountains to Marrakech. Arrival is usually mid-afternoon. If returning directly from Erg Chigaga after a second desert night, expect a longer journey and arrival during late afternoon or early evening.
