Tour Details

SummaryShim

This private three-day Morocco 4×4 tour combines dramatic mountain scenery, desert landscapes and rural hospitality. Travelling in a private Toyota Land Cruiser with an English-speaking driver, you leave Marrakech and cross the High Atlas Mountains before visiting Ait Ben Haddou and continuing to the Draa Valley. Your first night is spent in a charming guest-house near Agdz, surrounded by palm groves and traditional southern Moroccan scenery.

On day two, you travel deeper into the desert through Zagora and Mhamid before leaving the road behind. An off-road journey leads into Iriqui National Park and the remote Erg Chigaga dunes, around 60 kilometres from the nearest road. Here you can enjoy a camel trek, sunset from the dunes and a night in a desert glampsite.

The pace is relaxed but includes a long return journey on day three. Best suited to couples, families and friends seeking a private desert experience, the tour runs particularly well from September to May.

ItineraryShim

Day 1
Your private driver collects you from Marrakech at 09:00 and heads south through the High Atlas Mountains via Morocco’s highest main road pass at 2,260 metres. Continue through Telouet and the Ounila Valley to Ait Ben Haddou. Later, cross the Anti-Atlas foothills and descend into the Draa Valley. Overnight in a charming guest-house near Agdz with dinner and breakfast included.

Day 2
After breakfast, travel south along the Draa Valley through palm groves, kasbahs and oasis settlements. Pass through Zagora and continue to Mhamid El Ghizlane, where the paved road ends. Drive off-road into Iriqui National Park and reach Erg Chigaga before sunset. Enjoy a camel trek to the dunes, dinner at camp and an overnight stay in a desert glampsite.

Day 3
Rise early to watch the desert awaken from a dune viewpoint before breakfast. Leave Erg Chigaga by a different route, crossing the dried salt flats of Lake Iriqui and passing the Madouar mountains.
