ItineraryShim

Day 1 – arrival to Tangier
Arrive at Tangier Airport and meet your private driver for the short transfer into the historic medina. Settle into a restored townhouse overlooking the port area. Spend the remainder of the day getting acquainted with this distinctive former international city, where European and Moroccan influences meet. Overnight in Tangier.

Day 2 – Tangier and Asilah
Enjoy a relaxed day exploring Tangier’s medina, viewpoints and cafés. Later, travel to the coastal town of Asilah for an excursion through its compact whitewashed streets and sea-facing walls. Return to Tangier in the evening. A second night allows time to appreciate the city without rushing between destinations.

Day 3 – Chefchaouen
After breakfast, drive south-east through the Rif Mountains to Chefchaouen. Arrive around lunchtime and spend the afternoon wandering the town’s blue-painted lanes, stairways and small squares at your own pace. Enjoy the mountain atmosphere and photography opportunities before settling into a characterful riad for the night.

Day 4 – Fes via Meknes
Depart Chefchaouen for a full day travelling towards Fes. Visit the Roman ruins of Volubilis and continue to the holy town of Moulay Idriss. Later, stop briefly in Meknes to see monuments linked to Sultan Moulay Ismail. Reach your riad in Fes during the early evening for a two-night stay.

Day 5 – Fes
Join a morning guided walking tour through the UNESCO-listed medina of Fes. Explore winding alleyways, traditional quarters and historic medersas while learning about the city’s religious and cultural significance. Depending on timing, visit a panoramic viewpoint outside the city walls later in the day. Overnight in Fes.

Day 6 – Todra Gorge
Leave Fes and travel through cedar forests, Ifrane and Midelt before crossing mountain landscapes towards the Todra region. As scenery becomes increasingly arid, descend into the palm oasis around Tinghir. Spend time walking within the dramatic Todra Gorge before continuing to your comfortable guest-house for the night.

Day 7 – Draa Valley
Travel across the volcanic landscapes of Jebel Saghro via the Tizi n Tazazert pass. Pause in Nkob before descending into the Draa Valley, Morocco’s longest river valley. Palm groves, kasbahs and traditional settlements line the route. Arrive near Agdz for a two-night stay beside the oasis environment.

Day 8 – Agdz
Enjoy a slower-paced day in the Draa Valley. Join a guided morning walk through cultivated palm groves and local settlements, learning about oasis life. Later, share lunch in a Moroccan home. Spend the afternoon relaxing at your accommodation or exploring nearby kasbah remains independently. Overnight near Agdz.

Day 9 – Erg Chigaga
Continue south through the Draa Valley towards Mhamid El Ghizlane. Optional visits include Tamegroute’s pottery cooperative and historic library. After lunch and tea with local residents in an old ksar, leave the tarmac behind. Travel off-road to Erg Chigaga and enjoy sunset from nearby dunes. Overnight at camp.

Day 10 – Erg Chigaga
Choose an optional guided walk into the desert wilderness during the morning. After returning to camp, relax before setting out by camel towards the highest dune for sunset. Watch changing colours across the sand before returning to camp. Enjoy dinner, traditional music and a second night beneath desert skies.

Day 11 – Tata oasis
Depart Erg Chigaga and cross remote landscapes including Lake Iriqui, acacia groves and the Madouar formations. This exciting off-road section offers excellent opportunities for photography and fossil spotting. Rejoin the road at Foum Zguid before continuing west towards Tata oasis. Overnight in the Tata region.

Day 12 – Tata and region
Spend the day exploring the wider Tata area. Depending on interests, visit villages, gorges, caves or sections of the palm oasis. The reduced driving allows more time to appreciate the landscapes and geology of Morocco’s south-western regions. Return to your accommodation for a second night near Tata.

Day 13 – Taroudant
Travel north through Anti-Atlas scenery towards Taroudant. En route, visit the historic granary at Tagmoute and pass through varied mountain and oasis landscapes. Descend onto the fertile Souss plain before arriving in the walled town of Taroudant. Explore the medina and restored ramparts before overnighting nearby.

Day 14 – Marrakech
Cross the High Atlas Mountains via the winding Tizi n Test pass. The route offers wide-ranging views, traditional villages and changing scenery from Argan trees, to arid slopes to greener valleys. Pass the historic Tin Mal area and continue through Ouirgane and Asni. Arrive in Marrakech during the afternoon and check into your riad.

Day 15 – Marrakech
Meet your local guide for a morning exploration of Marrakech’s UNESCO-listed medina. Learn about the city’s history while visiting key quarters and landmarks. The afternoon is free for independent sightseeing, museums, gardens or palaces. Suggestions include Ben Youssef Medersa, Bahia Palace, Musee des Confluences, and Maison de la Photographie.

Day 16 – departure day
After breakfast, transfer to Marrakech Airport for your departure. Depending on onward arrangements, alternative transfer options may be available on request.
