Day 1
Depart Marrakech at 09:00 and cross the High Atlas Mountains via Morocco’s highest main road pass at approximately 2,260 metres. Continue through traditional villages towards Telouet and the scenic Ounila Valley. Visit the Ait Ben Haddou UNESCO region before spending the night in a restored kasbah-style guest-house nearby.

Day 2
After breakfast, travel through Ouarzazate and Skoura towards the Dades Valley. Follow the Dades River through palm groves, kasbah landscapes and increasingly dramatic rock formations. Stop for photographs along the valley and continue into Dades Gorge. Overnight in a traditional guest-house surrounded by the valley’s distinctive mountain scenery.

Day 3
Leave the Dades Valley and visit Todra Gorge, where you can stretch your legs beneath towering canyon walls. Continue via desert-edge landscapes and palm oases on the Ziz plain towards Merzouga. Meet your camel caravan and ride approximately one hour into Erg Chebbi for sunset, dinner and an overnight desert camp stay.

Day 4
Rise early for sunrise over the dunes before breakfast. Leave Erg Chebbi and follow the Ziz Valley north through the Tafilalt region, known for extensive date palm groves and caravan-route history. Cross the Middle Atlas Mountains, pass cedar forest areas near Azrou and arrive in Fes during the late afternoon.

What vehicle is used on this tour?
Transport is provided by private minivan or Toyota Land Cruiser 4x4, depending on group size and operational requirements. An English-speaking driver accompanies you throughout the journey. The route mainly follows sealed roads, with no long off-road driving sections included in the standard itinerary.

How much luggage can I bring?

When is the best time to take this tour?
September to June generally provides the most comfortable conditions for sightseeing, desert activities and mountain travel. Camps remain open during July and August, but temperatures can be very high, particularly around Erg Chebbi. Seasonal clothing is recommended, including warm layers during Winter months.
